What Types of Food Describe You Best?

by: Asinus Asinum Fricat

Sun Apr 05, 2009 at 09:25:14 AM PDT

I'm often asked that question, to which I have a ready answer: bread, cheese and wine. I'm a peasant at heart. Add a few slices of saucisson de Lyon and I'm in heaven.

Now you know mine, so what type of food (no more than three) would describe your personality? It's Sunday, I'm doing an experiment and this is a little Meta fun. No cheating please! And pour me a glass of red.

The Greatest Food Songs Ever!

by: Asinus Asinum Fricat

Sat Jan 17, 2009 at 12:11:05 PM PST

A long, long time ago, I remember asking my step-father to translate a song that I played at least 20 times a day on my portable record player. It was by Louis Armstrong and it's called "What! All that meat and no potatoes!". It struck me as really odd that someone, somewhere, had written a song about the lack of potatoes in a meat dish. I began to collect what I call funny food songs and had them all translated into French....well, except the French ones, and we have a few of our own, to be sure, you don't mess around with a country that produces well over 400 cheeses, as De Gaulle was fond of saying. To this day I still buy songs that have a food theme or reference, call me nuts!

So join me and my singing monkey to the world of Food Songs.

The Elitist Snack & Drink Election Day/Night Celebration Diary

by: Asinus Asinum Fricat

Fri Oct 31, 2008 at 08:24:00 AM PDT

I know this is way too early to write about the sort of celebration we will have next Tuesday night and, ahem, the price we'll pay the following day: a post-celebration that many of us will suffer as the MOTHER of all HANGOVERS! I spell it EXCESS! When Blake wrote "The road to excess leads to the palace of wisdom", he wasn't wrong!

Yes, excessive it will be, and we have earned it after enduring 8 years of conveyor-belt propelled BS, false promises, stupid wars, the raping of the constitution, economic downgrading and a lot more. Of course eating right is elitist and since this election is the most important one this century (and possibly the last one) I'm going to throw caution to the wind and celebrate properly by purchasing, bartering, demanding, begging for the primo stuff to be on hand during the long hours of the election results. Here's to the future!
