The big girls, begging.
We've resolved to stop feeding the chickens near our door because we don't want them begging (and pooping) on our front porch like this. I've started going out the back door if I have food for them, and I give it to them near their coop. My roommate put up a small fence to keep them off the front porch. Here's how well that worked:
The babies have been getting bigger and growing their feathers. Here they are a few days before they moved outside:

We've now gotten a total of 16 eggs since April 2. Here's the first one I made:
Over easy, just the way I like it, served on a homemade from scratch tortilla:
I was so excited by it that I shared some of the tortilla with the chicks, who were still inside, and even with the dog. The big girls got Japanese beetle larvae as their thank you.

The kids want to name two of the babies but still haven't. I've been referring to the blue one as "Blue" although I decided that Indy would be a good name for him or her, since he or she is a very independent little birdie. I've been calling the Wyandotte "Dinner." The other two are named Angel (black Ameraucana) and Rose (lavender Ameraucana).
