thanks for stopping in! (4.00 / 7)
We're working to turn our farm into a working CSA farm & I hope to eventually build a commercial kitchen to can jellies, relishes & pickles to sell.

come firefly-dreaming with me....

Yum! (4.00 / 4)
I should cross post a diary I did about a woman who sells jams locally. She said she'd be willing to talk to anyone who is thinking about going into the jam business so you may wish to get in touch!

I am so very jealous of all of the fresh veggies you have on the way but I've got to make a recommendation: delicata squash. It is the BEST winter squash in my opinion. Yum yum yum.

thanks OC! (4.00 / 3)
it's on my list to buy next time.

Thanks for starting this wonderful blog...I'm so happy I found you!

I'd love to see your jam lady diary. It's just a dream I've had since I read a wonderful book 'Preserving the Taste' & realized I've been canning jellies, jams, conserves, pickles & relishes for years (& always get compliments) & realized 'value added' products are many times what keeps a small farm going at first.

come firefly-dreaming with me....

What can I say? Beautiful garden! (4.00 / 5)
I envy you with the amount of space you have. I'm going to grow more vegs next year, and we're looking to get hens and a goat.

Sic Transit Gloria Locavore!

thank you! (4.00 / 3)
This year we're doing a Lot of prep work... & hacking back 10 yrs of neglect! (We were away from the land to tend aging parents & just returned.)
Our garden this year is a 'test plot'. I'm trying many different types of each veg & planting intensively (& we're also getting our fingers 'green' again!) & I'm also returning to putting up the gardens produce(canning & freezing with a root celler on the to-do list)

Next year we should have about an acre in production.(not counting fruit trees or berries)

I'm not sure weather to get a goat or a small(miniature)cow....i DO want butter.

come firefly-dreaming with me....

O! (4.00 / 3)
Since these pictures were taken MrD has installed a drip-irrigation system. The plan is to set up all the roofs(barn, sheds, house) to catch rain- & have gravity fed irrigation for the garden & eventually for our use also!

come firefly-dreaming with me....
