Also on the schedule (4.00 / 5)
Eating at Millennium and visiting Common Ground. I am SO EXCITED!

So am I... (4.00 / 5)
I just can't wait to read your reviews! Oh yes, and I also can't wait for the vids from your lectures. ;-)

So any chance you'll be paying homage to Chez Panisse, or perhaps enjoying a little One Market? Btw, here's the list of all the Bay Area Michelin Starred Restaurants. Hell, I can't wait to try some of these when I'm back up there myself!

Have fun in SF. :-)

Chez Panisse is far out of my budget (4.00 / 5)
but I've eaten at their cafe a few times and it's delicious.

Isn't that the upstairs? (4.00 / 4)
Next time I'm up in the Bay Area, I wouldn't mind upstairs or downstairs. Alice Waters is a real sustainable living hero... And I've heard she can cook OK, too.

Upstairs / downstairs (4.00 / 6)
The Cafe is upstairs and has a daily-changing menu of a few apps, a pizza, and some entrees (at least one vegetarian).  The actual restaurant is downstairs, with a fixed menu (but apparently willing to make changes for vegetarians or people that are allergic to or appalled by an offering on that night's menu). The restaurant is the one with the Michelin star.

I've eaten at the cafe many times and it's always a wonderful experience. The morel pasta I had a few years ago is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten.

For home cooks, the library of Chez Panisse cooking books are also quite good.

That's what I thought. (4.00 / 4)
The casual cafe is upstairs, while the formal restaurant is downstairs... Basically RM Seafood in reverse. ;-)

Millenium (4.00 / 2)
Huckleberry potato fries? Please try them for me.

The menus look great. I don't know what many of the items are, but they still look great.

i've posted this (4.00 / 3)
at a couple blogs for you....
where i KNOW there are ppl in the SF Bay area.
hopefully it will help you get a bigger crowd....
♥~

come firefly-dreaming with me....

thanks (4.00 / 3)
last night the library had a great crowd. I only brought 4 books to sell (oops). Turned out OK though because only 2 sold. My assumption at libraries is that most people who show up plan to check the book out of the library, not buy it.

UC Berkeley event (4.00 / 6)
I'm going to try to make it to the UC Berkeley event. Any other LVL'ers going?

I don't think so but (4.00 / 5)
I'll email ya my cell #. For whatever reason, a bunch of the people on this blog are from either Portland or Philly. Or near those cities. I don't know why, but it was an absolute pleasure to visit those cities and meet so many folks together in one spot.

Maybe (4.00 / 4)
If I make it there I be this guy (on the left)

Are you going to Saul's Deli? (4.00 / 5)
And while you're there, do me a favor and wave to Oakland for me!

Tell Oakland I'll be back for a few days' visit maybe as soon as this summer, if I can scrape up a few dollars by then.  Or hmmm, maybe October or November.  Portland summers are too perfect to spend elsewhere, and I know how to live broke but well here so I'd even have a little more time to save up for a Bay Area trip.

;-P

I should book a train fare for late October now, so I don't back out...

I'm staying in Oakland (4.00 / 5)
so I'll say hi to it for you

Let me know if you make it for summer... (4.00 / 4)
I'm aiming for June or early July. Perhaps we can try Manresa, or maybe Coi. :-)

Didn't see this until now... (4.00 / 4)
and I've got a thing tomorrow.. I might be able to get out of it and sneak up to Berkeley. If you're looking for something to do Friday my friends are playing a Reggae show in Menlo Park at a bar called the BBC, British Bankers Club I think.

Sounds fun (4.00 / 4)
I am highly motivated by laziness though, I'll warn you. Friday I'm doing dinner in SF with a friend and then most likely heading back to Oakland and going to bed like a party pooper.

No worries (4.00 / 2)
It's a ways from Oakland to Menlo Park probably not worth your time. Have a good rest of the trip!
