DiFi Responds on Food Safety

A friend received a response about food safety from CA Senator Dianne Feinstein. It's very vague. Here's what she had to say:
Jill Richardson :: DiFi Responds on Food Safety
Dear [name]:

Thank you for writing to share your support for legislation intended to improve food safety. Your correspondence is important to me and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you know, recent outbreaks of food borne illnesses and concerns about the safety of imported food have prompted numerous legislative
proposals to increase the safety of the U.S. food supply. While I am concerned about deficiencies in the U.S. food safety system, I believe that reforms must be well thought out to avoid unintended consequences.

On March 3, 2009, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) introduced the "FDA Food Safety Modernization Act" (S. 510). This bill would increase the Food and Drug Administration's regulatory powers over the national food supply and food providers. I am currently reviewing this legislation and will keep your thoughts and priorities in mind as the Senate considers S. 510.

Again, thank you for writing. I hope that you will continue to share your thoughts with me. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to call my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841.

Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

di fi all over (4.00 / 1)
Actually she is improving her act. Last year she didn't respond to constituents until TWO MONTHS after the bill or whatever is voted on.

Di Fi is very cozy with large dollar contributors, but needs to appeal to an actual electorate. So she sends out these vague letters.

will no one run against this vile creature?

I'm sure lots of people would like to (4.00 / 1)
but it costs too much money to run.

Regarding locavores as elitists - explain to me how supporting local business is elitist....
