I'm going to be on the radio at 11am today, on the Thom Hartmann show. Thom Hartmann airs nationally on progressive talk radio stations, and also streams live at ThomHartmann.com. I'm a big fan of the show so I'm thrilled to have the chance to speak to Thom live on the air.

Also, as long as I'm tooting my own horn, please check out this most excellent review of my book by SusanG of DailyKos.

Last but not least, if you're in the Portland area, you can find me at Powells on Burnside at 7:30pm tonight.

InFarmation(&Beer) was fantastic! I really enjoyed your presentaiton and great Q&A session! Have fun at Powells. I've gotten lost in that store for hours in the past. Not just a book store, a book universe.....

Thanks Joanne! (4.00 / 1)
It was such a pleasure to meet you. I am glad you thought last night went OK. I was warned in advance that the crowd might be mixed between organic/sustainable foodies, conventional farmers, and eaters who aren't totally on board with the sustainable food thing, so I was trying to be all things to all people, if that's possible.

I think it's good to know (4.00 / 2)
as much about the different food systems as possible, that way you can talk intelligently about the different issues. I also like the way you lay out your reasons for eating the way you do in a way that isn't judgemental about other people's food choices.

I'm a big fan of the carrot instead of the stick where ever possible. If people are presented with the information on the subject of food and how we eat in this country and elsewhere, they can make up their own minds. Which is as it should be. People interested in eating and/or growing differently than they do now will be able to armed with info on how to. That's what you're doing right now, informing people so that they can make their own choices.

The interview with Thom was great too. Kudos to you.

Thanks (4.00 / 1)
I think it's important not to be judgmental. Food is a very personal thing. You don't win allies by calling people names. There's enough low hanging fruit that we all agree on so I don't see a need to harp on our differences.
