Site Outage & Our Birthday

La Vida Locavore just had a rather obnoxious way of celebrating its first birthday. The site went down. We've been online for a full year now, and as such, somebody was supposed to pay to renew the domain name. Whoops. When I realized what the problem was, my first thought was "It hasn't been a year yet! Has it?" So then I thought back to when we started - July 2008 - and thought "It can't be July yet!" Oh yes, it can. This is part of the problem of living in San Diego. Seasons lose their meaning. There's a holiday this week and my poor Southern Californian brain can't remember if it's Memorial Day or Labor Day or the Fourth of July, and I wouldn't be too shocked if somebody told me it was Christmas.

At any rate, if you are reading this, then you know that the site is back up again. And now we can celebrate our first birthday! Woohoo!

LVL--Brought to you by Monsanto (4.00 / 8)
I'll bet Monsanto was just minutes away from buying this domain name out from under you.  Happy birthday LVL!

The corporate buyers don't seem to have ordered any copies of your book for the store, but I'll be ordering some in myself as soon as they hit the distributor warehouses.

Thanks! (4.00 / 7)
Glad to know I'll be represented in at least one B&N somewhere!! :) If you want I can sign a few copies for your store when I'm in Philly, if that would make them easier to sell.

DebtorsPrison is in Philly? (4.00 / 5)
You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin' a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in singin' a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement.

If she does, we may be up to "enclave," which is between three and fifty.

And congrats to you Jill ...I am not sure how this is going to turn out, but I am going to be helping my therapist with her blog. She has a book coming out in Dec and of course the publisher wants her to have a blog.I went this morning to send my therapist a link to here to give here a feel for how you build a blog and nurture a community... And THIS blog has a real community and not just virtual.Mr and Mrs Anonymous Bosch are coming here on Sunday...

Happy birthday LVL! (4.00 / 5)
Don't feel too bad, I forgot to renew my domain name registration a month or two ago and as such couldn't figure out why I couldn't post the sourdough pancake pictures onto my web server. (Well, I could, but only by IP address, and that doesn't work.)

I have succumbed to the Twitter craze. @Omir55

Don't they send notices? (4.00 / 6)
Mine sends me 90day, 60, 30, 14, 7, 24hr etc. As you can see, it does me a lot of good as I know about the 24hr notices, lol!~

If they did, I completely missed it (4.00 / 4)
This however would not be surprising on my part.

Now you've gone (4.00 / 4)
and made me hungry!

17 divine layers of chocolate(fair trade) cake....(in each tier!)
separated by alternating layers of luscious almond cream custard  filling & organic strawberry-almond conserve, covered by a chocolate-caramel fondant & drizzled with fudge, topped with chocolate-dipped pretzels & chocolate-dipped strawberries

Happy Birthday! (4.00 / 3)
Just think, in twenty years we can take the blog out to a brewpub!

Congrats Jill, and everybody else!  Fantastic job we're doing here.  I like that description somebody gave you the other day, btw - don't remember who said it, but I think that should officially be part of your name.  The Indefatigable Jill Richardson. :)

Don't feel bad about missing the holiday, btw - I just did too.  I think that comes from being out of regular work.  I found out buses and trains here are running on a Sunday schedule tomorrow, and I was like - "why, it's only Friday?!".  Whoops, the holiday.  :)

I guess there's nothing in my mind to keep track of those days either now, when it isn't a "paid day off" to look forward to...
