The lousy-but-maybe-better-than-nothing climate bill has passed: 219-212. Only 8 Republicans voted for it. All but 44 Dems voted for it. Here is the vote.

Yeesh... (4.00 / 3)
Just popped over to poke around the comments at the GOS post on this - perfect example of how that site is now a joke.

Do any of them in the comments there (besides maybe like 1%) ever have any thoughts of their own on any issues, or is it just more like "whatever 50%-plus-one of Congressional Dems believe, I'm in!"???

Now that's a wee bit harsh (4.00 / 2)
I thought the front page article outlining what various groups (Sierra Club, Greenpeace, coal industry, etc.) thought about the bill and why was terrific.

The fact is that the bill's a mixed bag, but ultimately I think the important thing is to get a regulatory system in place and get businesses used to thinking about (and perhaps proactively improving) their carbon dioxide output. We can hopefully improve the specifics as time goes by.

I wish I knew half what the flock of them know
Of where all the berries and other things grow,
Cranberries in bogs and raspberries on top
Of the boulder-strewn mountain, and when they will crop.

Not if you read through the comments... (4.00 / 1)

"The 44 are traitors, burn them!"  Others are comparing Peter DeFazio to oil lobbyists and shit.  Pfffftttt...

They view it as a football game, or something.  Only thing is, "we" didn't win.  Nobody did.

I'll tell you what, if the Giants are down 14-13 with 20 seconds left on 4th and inches from the Eagles 8-yard line in a Week 17 game with a playoff spot on the line, and they punt it?  I'm not cheering.

That's what the Democrats did, they surrendered again.  That's all they're good for.  And 99% of those in the comments over there cheered madly...
