| The event tonight includes dinner at a private home just over the Golden Gate Bridge with movers and shakers from the bay area and a premiere of Edible Cities. (Check out the trailer here) There's nothing elitist shown here, just real grassroots organizers from places like Alemany garden and innovative, locavore-friendly-businesses I've recently connected with, like My Farm.
The event seems like a great opportunity to connect with sustainable ag folks in the bay. Eric Holt-Giménez,
Executive Director of Food First will be there, with Jessica Prentice, who coined the wonderful word Locavore. I wish I could make it, but I don't own a car and this is too far away to get to on a bike tonight!
Tomorrow, however, I'll be able to walk over to the Victoria theatre to see Fresh. This shows what's happening on a national level with urban changemakers like Will Allen from Growing Power, and even introduces us to farmer Joel Salatin, from Michael Pollan's book, The Omnivore's Dilemma.
Director Ana Sofia Joanes and Michael Pollan will both be at what looks like a great premiere. Check to see when the film is coming to play near you and let me know what you think. Thanks to Leslie Hatfield from the Eat Well Guide for recommending it to me. |
