Curtis Abbey :: Daily Show: Michelle Obama's Garden
For those who are new to this issue the main complaints against chemical pesticides and fertilizers (and what's grown with them) are:
#1 Fossil fuel costs both in petroleum based fertilizers and transport/processing of the pest/fert products.
#2 Runoff, environmental contamination of rivers, oceans and your drinking water
#3 Unknown side effects of combinations of fertilizers and their effects on your body and all the other bodies on down the food chain
#4 The health effects of consuming too much grain, which results when corn and soybean derivatives are consumed in great quantities through seed based oils, sodas, corn-fed animals.
#5 Pesticide resistant bugs, soil degradation from unnatural methods.
#6 The cost of chemicals and the economics of oversupply, and how that hurts farmers.

The list goes on and on of good reasons to want to opt off the McDonalds/Archer Daniels Midland/Dow/Monsanto/Coca Cola meal train.

That Daily Show video was too funny! They really did what Colbert was kind of unable to do last week. He tried but I wasn't laughing as hard.

Interestingly that story about the Mid America Crop Life Association was broken by our own Jill Richardson and it made it all the way up to Steven Colbert.
