These are the best of the pictures I took today in my garden and around my house. I didn't plant most of these flowers so I can't tell ya what they are. But I'll start in the garden, which is all me. Then I'll finish with three great videos about the environment, gardening, comedy and the local sustainable food movement.
This is a strawberry flower. These are my top performers in the garden right now. They have gotten quite tall and are just reaching up towards the sky.
I have quite a few berries going now, from these third and second year perennial strawberries.
Although, one less than yesterday. There was a big half red one, that is now missing.
These romaine lettuce are doing quite well next to some of my cherry tomato plants.
These ants are awful. I keep hearing that they aren't eating my plants, but it sure looks like it.
My black satin thornless blackberries are thriving and so far, ant free.
Marigolds are supposed to be attracting beneficial insects, I'm not sure about that but they are soft on the eyes.
My beans are thriving, my celery is looking great. I have no idea what my brussel sprouts and cauliflower are doing. I've never grown those before and am waiting anxiously for them to flower. My grapes are doing better than ever, table and chardonnay. To see the rest of those pictures check out my garden slideshow.

This old apple tree has hundreds of blossoms on it. The apples taste chalky though.

Frontline's Poisoned Waters is all about agricultural and industrial impact on our waterways. Specifically they go to the Puget Sound and the Chesapeake Bay. This one really hit home with me because I grew up on stories about the Chesapeake Bay crabs. It also touched on one of my greatest concerns, factory farms. Frontline focuses on giant chicken operations in Maryland and the dead zones created in the Chesapeake bay from the waste runoff. Much more about our contaminated waterways and tap water in this must see video.
Store Wars. This is a cute spoof that highlights the locavore food movement that is building.
Finally I'll end with this. One of the funniest videos I've seen in a long time. Pretty girls and pretty gardens from North Korea.
