Our Dying Oceans

The headlines I see about ocean life are all sad.

There's just not any good news out there about fish, unless you count the articles by chefs talking about how good they taste (as well as this exchange about saving the oceans between Tom Philpott and Mark Bittman). And you know what else gets me? The Smithsonian talk is framed as saving "seafood" supplies - as if the residents of our oceans have only one purpose and that is being our dinners.

That might be the most practical way (4.00 / 1)
to frame the debate.  If you make it too sentimental, you'll make it so a lot of people don't care.  But losing our seafood is tangible.

Hmmm . . . (4.00 / 1)
props to my kitties. They don't eat cat food and all their meats are pastured. I do give them minced clams on occasion, but mostly stick to chicken hearts etc for taurine. The fish they get is the same I eat or I buy whole ground white fish from their meat supplier. I never thought about their fish source and regards to the ocean. I'm more worried about where the fish came from on the safety/health level. Although, I guess I was/am considering the sea in some manner as I follow the Monterey Bay guide on fish buying and also don't feed them huge amounts. Not even close to what they would get in a canned food diet it seems.
