Bad News in Kansas on rbGH-Free Labeling

The Kansas House ag committee held a vote on a measure to ban rbGH-free labeling... and it passed. They held a hearing a week or so ago and it didn't look good for our side then. The bill is HB 2295. Next step is a vote before the full House. No word on anything from the Senate (yet).

If you live in Kansas, I recommend sending a letter to your state representative and signing up for email alerts by Food & Water Watch so you can follow this issue. If you do NOT live in Kansas, I don't recommend sending emails to the KS state leg at this time.

Won't that hurt their milk supply? (4.00 / 2)
They can't bring in milk unless it's properly labeled, right? Or ship it to states that have labeling. It just seems odd they are pursuing as Monsanto even gave up. Aren't they trying to sell off their rbGH biz due to the fact we don't want their sh!t in our milk?

they sold it to Eli Lilly's Elanco (4.00 / 1)
who hasn't been nearly as aggressive as Monsanto. I really don't know where the impetus for this BS came from but this has been brewing in KS for a while. It was in the executive branch for a while, then they gave up, and the legislature picked it up.

They must not have gotten the memo . . . . (4.00 / 2)
or, some thing's up. Perhaps they will use it to apply to other things also, like irradiation, antibiotics, etc?

Who me suspicious?! Naw . . . . .  :-P
